Entertaining

This President’s Day, Frankie is celebrating formally in the Harrison House . . .

All those chairs, but there’s nothing comfier than a ray of sun!

Historically, the front parlor was meant to be an impressive room reserved for entertaining. Harrison House has a back parlor, too (the room right behind the front parlor—offscreen to the right in the photo above), but that space was more flexible: in fact, it was used as a bedroom at times during the house’s history. The front parlor was a more public space. A perfect place, in fact, for observing President’s Day (first celebrated in 1855 on Washington’s birthday! Learn more here).

Of course, as official Cat Curator, Frankie loves every room in the Harrison House. Stay tuned for further adventures next week!
