Frankie, our Curator Cat, is ready for a great historical event . . .
. . . A solar eclipse!
In ancient history, eclipses were seen as very powerful events—and, most often, as frightening or terrible omens. They could spell danger for whoever was in power at the time, because the sun—often metaphorically linked to kings or rulers—was blocked out by shadow.
In Harrison House times, eclipses have been more understood and less politically charged. However, seeing the sun eclipsed by the new moon is still a historic event! We’re looking forward to viewing the partial eclipse this afternoon. But, as Frankie reminds us, safety is paramount: everyone, make sure to have your eclipse glasses or pinhole cameras on hand!
