Spring Cleaning
It’s that time of year, when houses (and museums!) are cleaned from top to bottom . . .
Museum basements are often treasure troves—not only old artifacts, but previously used tools, hardware, and pieces of furniture from the house often wind up downstairs. The Harrison House is no different!
In order to make the basement safer for exploration (and more organized for human use), we’ve been working on cleaning up the Harrison House basement. And we are lucky, because while the basement here is stone—as are basements in many historic homes—it is relatively moisture- and bug-free. No doubt that’s aided by some good ventilation! If your house has an old basement like ours, but it’s a little less pleasant, you might consider a dehumidifier as a good first step to cleaning it up.
